Jezersko, situated on the far North of the capital of Slovenia Ljubljana is a small countryside surrounded round and round by high mountains. Jezersko is named after a glacial lake which began to drain in 1348. Today's Planšarsko lake is a memory remnant of the glacial one. Jezersko became a tourist place already in the Habsburg monarchy. Due to its favourable climate it is a beloved destination for all nature and mountain lovers, hikers, bikers, families and cyclers. All-year-round destination with seasonal activities.

Spring, summer, autumn: walking paths through the valley, hiking routes, cycling tours, highland and climbing paths, riding a bike or a horse, BBQ, sports activities.

Winter fairytale: ice skating on the Planšarsko lake, cross-country skiing, sledging down the snowy hills, ski touring paradise, climbing frozen waterfalls and ravines.
Numerous ancestors' legacy places of interest: 500 years old rural settlements, wooden roofs, frescoes in churches, farm objects museum, 115-year-old Češka koča (mountain hut).

Jezersko region is a part of "Natura 2000".
In April 2004, Slovenia designated the Natura 2000 sites and undertook to suitably protect them. The network was enlarged in 2013. It defined 31 sites for bird conservation and 323 sites for the conservation of habitat types and species. Thus there are 354 Natura 2000 sites in total, encompassing, terrestial, 6 km2 marine), which makes approximately 37 percent of the country.

A particular characteristic of Slovenia is its great diversity of animal and plant species in a small area, and its well-preserved nature. The sites are home to 114 threatened plant and animal species and 60 habitat types protected by the Habitats Directive and 122 species protected by the Birds Directive.

Two thirds of sites are forested, a substantial part consists of areas with little vegetation (mainly rock walls), just under a tenth are areas above the tree line, and there are also notable areas of grasslands. A quarter of the total Natura 2000 sites in Slovenia fall within the Triglav National Park, regional and landscape parks, or are designated as nature reserves or natural monuments.

With regard to the number of protected species and the proportion of its national territory included in the Natura 2000 network, Slovenia is at the very top of the European list.
